[Note: the following plea for help comes from our friends at Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, who need your social media heft to help win money so that CVLS can expand its free legal services to Chicago’s under-served poor. Please read on to see how you can help with a single click.]
Breaking news: there are poor people of Chicago. They include families, the disabled and the elderly. They struggle with broken homes, lost jobs, unscrupulous landlords and other indignities visited upon people at the bottom rung of our society. Poverty also plagues the suburbs. Problems that overwhelm the inner city also exist in outlying areas with inadequate public transportation and services.
Through Chicago Volunteer Services, thousands of attorneys are helping:
Since 1964, Chicago attorneys have provided free legal services to hundreds of thousands of Chicago’s poor through their pro bono work with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Last year alone, 3,000 volunteer attorneys helped over 18,000 clients.
We need your help – it’ll take a minute and won’t cost a dime:
CVLS needs your help. It won’t cost you a dime or any billable time. Just vote for CVLS on Facebook at Chase Community Giving or through www.cvls.org between May 19 and 26. There will be no annoying spam or unwanted messages and the entire process will take only one minute.
Your vote will help CVLS win enough money to install robust, state of the art technology and create free virtual legal clinics in the Chicago metro area to reach thousands more clients.
Attorneys see the inequity of a legal system where some people have attorneys and others don’t. The rest of the world doesn’t always appreciate lawyers or the work that we do. CVLS needs your support and your vote. Please vote for us and spread the word.
Because equal access to justice is everyone’s fight…
[Stay tuned: we’ll post a list of steps as soon as voting is underway on Facebook – help with a click.]
